Linear actuators are responsible for the huge surge in possibilities with home automation, and automation in general. They have created so much ability, as any linear actuators website will tell you, by widening the possibilities of what machines and automation can do for us.
The technology which we always see in sci-fi movies is specifically tailored to give us a wow factor, but the fact is that we are incredibly close to producing these technologies and more in real life, and in such quantities as to have them turn up in the most mundane of places.
Modern technology is something which is advancing so far and so fast that we can control everything from our smart phones, and are already moving even beyond that.
#1. Robots
Fully-automated robots will remain in the realm of sci-fi for some time yet, but robotics and the associated fields with it have been receiving a lot of input in the past years, leading us to create smaller robots which, while limited in scope, can nevertheless be easily integrated within the home for an overall more comfortable life.
We are continuing our quest to get automated robots up and running though, with the result that we can now create robots which will eventually be capable of so much more than cleaning and basic tasks.
Robots are being made which can pick things up, and can be programmed to this in specific ways which can lead to them being able to work around the house doing some of the more basic tasks.
The control motion system of the robot allows it to be controlled and put on a specific path, while the sensors which are put into it allow it to carry out its tasks without hurting anybody or damaging anything in the process.
#2. Smart Appliances
Our devices are becoming smarter and smarter over time, to the point that even now we are creating systems which can control certain systems within the home. This is something which is going to expand in the future, with the much talked-of Internet of Things leading the charge.
Rather than simply responding to orders from us, smart appliances of the future are seen as being able to learn our habits and needs, and respond to them before we even ask.
We already have smart security systems and thermostats, among other things, both of which can be accessed and influenced from remote locations as a means of making our homes safer and more convenient for the people who live in them, but smart appliances of the future will take it to a whole new level.
#3. Lighting Controls
We are fast reaching the point where actually needing to physically touch a switch to turn a light on or off is becoming old-fashioned – we are now moving towards lighting controls which can be influenced by smart controls or by other means entirely.
Smart lights mean that lights can be controlled from multiple locations, and can even be linked to other devices (an example would be – having the lights in your cupboard triggered to come on when the door is opened, or possibly having the lights in the hall come on when the coffee machine is switched on). They will also be linked to specific programmes for a house which is never dark.
