How to Save Money on Your Next Move

Save-Money-on-Your-Next-Move

Few things are more stressful than completing a move. Whether you’re moving across town to a new apartment or moving to a new home across the country to be closer to treatments at thrivemdclinic.com, packing up and moving all of your belongings is time consuming, stressful and ultimately expensive.

If you’re planning a move in 2023 and are finding yourself worried about the cost, don’t panic. Moving can be pricey, but there are a few things you can do in advance to help save a bit of money.

Keep reading to learn 3 simple tips for saving money on your next move.

Do As Much As You Can On Your Own

These days, there is no shortage of moving companies available to help make your move as easy as possible. From packing up your belongings and hauling them to a truck to unloading and unpacking them in your new place, you can hire professional movers to do just about anything in terms of completing a move.

While this might be helpful, it can also be expensive! Save money by doing as much as you can on your own, especially packing and unpacking your belongings; these things might be time consuming, but they are relatively easy to do on your own.

Downsize

Cut down on the number of items you need to pack by decluttering and downsizing your home a few months before a move.

Whether your closet is overflowing with clothes and shoes you never wear or the number of unnecessary knick knacks in your living room or kitchen has gotten overwhelming, moving is the perfect time to downsize as it cuts down on the number of items you need to pack and worry about physically transporting to your new home.

If the thought of getting rid of items in your home overwhelms you, beginning the process early and spreading this task out over time can make things easier ahead of a move.

Move in the Off Season

Hiring movers during the busier summer or early fall months (aka “back to school” season) can be more expensive than hiring them during any other time of the year.

While you might not have control over when you are able to move in some situations, if you are able to decide when the job gets completed, doing so in the winter months (from January to March, ideally) can help to save you a considerable amount of money.
