How to Submit Blog Sitemap to Google Search Console
Before submitting Blog Sitemap to Google Search Console following things are to be done:
- You should verify your blog with Google Search Console. This is done by signing into Google Search Console with your Google Sites credentials. Google Search Console will guide you with further steps.
- You should create a Sitemap for your blog manually or with the help of online Sitemap generators. If your blog is powered by WordPress you can make use of WordPress plugins like Yoast SEO to create Sitemaps for your blog. Since this article is about how to submit Blog Sitemap to Google Search Console, I am not going into details of how to create Sitemaps.
Once your blog is verified with Google Search Console and sitemap for the same is created, next step is to understand how to submit Blog Sitemap to Google Search Console. Here I am explaining how to submit Blog Sitemap to Google Search Console in a step by step manner.
Step 1: Login to your Google Search Console home page (Here I am assuming that you have already verified your blog with Google Search Console). Google Search Console is also known by the name Google Webmaster Tool.

Step 2: From the left-hand side of the Google Search Console home screen, Click on Dashboard option and select Crawl option from the drop down list. Expand Crawl by clicking on it and you will find Sitemaps option.
Dashboard > Crawl >Sitemaps
Step 3: Click on the red button “Add/Test Sitemap” on the top right of the screen.
Step 4: Now you will be asked to provide URL of the Sitemap that you created already. Here I am assuming that you already have your Sitemap link created. A sample Sitemap URL will be of the following form:
https://www.emoneyindeed.com/sitemap.xml
After entering Sitemap URL click on “Submit Sitemap” button. A confirmation message might appear and you will be asked to refresh the page.
Extra: Suppose you haven’t created the Sitemap link. Don’t worry. There is a tip for you in that case. Add the below URL in the space provided.
https://www.emoneyindeed.com/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=500
Then click on the “Submit Sitemap” button.
But this tip would not work if your blog has more than 500 articles. In case you have more than 500 articles in your blog, add one more Sitemap with the following URL.
https://www.emoneyindeed.com/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=501&max-results=500
If the number of articles is more than 1000, then add one more Sitemap with URL.
https://www.emoneyindeed.com/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1001&max-results=500
Step 5: If you are adding Sitemap for a new blog, it can take some time for Google Search Console to display status of your indexed pages.
Once the index status is updated, you can find the number of webpages submitted and the number of webpages indexed by Google. Additional details like Sitemap type, date, issues etc are also displayed in the screen.
So now we know how to submit Blog Sitemap to Google Search Console. By making Google index your pages with the help of Sitemaps, you could significantly increase traffic to your blog.
